/I wait upon You, Lord
Monday, April 20, 2009
She leaves the classroom and retrieves her valuables from the locker that she shares with a friend. After all, the locker rentals are incredibly overpriced. Too overpriced, in fact, for her to even consider renting it by herself. She begins to walk down the stairs alone, as she does every day. Today, she would be going for a doctors appointment at Alexandra Hospital. She prefers not to reveal the reason behind it, a very personal thing indeed.
She waits in the concourse for her mother to come pick her up. Her friends greet her with a hello and walk by, some of them ignore her completely. She feels the sting of rejection, but she's used to being ignored by her closest friends. Oh, the joys of friendship. She eventually settles into playing TapTapRevenge2 on her iPod Touch with her bud, Sara, but their game is cut short when she spots her mother's car.
Arriving at Alexandra Hospital, she proceeds to get her finger pricked and blood tested for her sugar level. She waits and waits and waits for results, and is called into the nurse's room. It's time. She is greeted with horrible news. Her sugar is still sky high. Even higher than before. She is puzzled and dejected. She had tried so hard. She curses herself in her head. "Why is it so high?", "I exercised and I cut down on my sugary stuff!" She suspects it was her flu that affected the reading. Yes, of course, it was the flu. The nurse isn't convinced though, and increases her medication. A new medicine for her overworked liver. Hello, liver failure! You're early in this life... Her mother desperately tries to explain that it was the flu that made the readings inaccurate, and also, the flu prevented her from exercising as much as she had wanted to. The nurse remains unconvinced.
She leaves the hospital feeling as depressed as ever. Her mother had already long given up on her condition. She smses Fum, who tells her that everything'll be fine, and that God is there for her. She believes her. She believes Him. She will wait for Him to make everything better. She turns on her iPod, and decides to listen to You'll Come by Hillsong. She smiles at the fact that the song is speaking to her. "I have decided, I have resolved, to wait upon You, Lord."
And that's just what she'll do.
